The Sims Life & Times

The Sims, as anyone who plays can attest, takes on a life of its own. I created this blog so I could keep track of my sim stories and share them with others. I've always wanted to write stories but unfortunately I'm not very good at it lol I am hoping that just as my house building has improved so will my storytelling abilities.

My main family is called the Snookers. My goal was to move 1 sim into Relfamtown and see how the population would grow. I hope you will follow along with me.
If you would like to see all the stories in the Relfamtown series then click on Snooker Chronicles to the left and start at the bottom of the list.

UPDATE - Well since I had a major meltdown and lost Relfamtown, the Snookers are now in Sim Heaven and there will not be anymore updates on them :-( Out of the bad comes good though and Tesime is a new neighbourhood that I created for the Test of Time challenge. I hope you will enjoy their stories as well !

Money Money Money : Round 8

Simoleans at a glance:

Round 8                         Cash on Hand                       House Value

Skin 1:
Stonegate                          §26,095                              § 37,405
Lindt                                  §98,195                              §128,651

Skin 2/4:
Phan                                  §49,280                              §67,540

Skin 4:
Gallant                               §61,804                             §81,400
Benet                                 §58,990                             §78,683

The Lindt's have a solid lead which unless they all die ( hey it has happened in other players games ! ) I am thinking they will be the emperor family.  Pity that the Stonegate's have been plagued with such tragedy - first they have 4 girls which obviously will not add much to the family pot, then one of the 2 boys dies in a childhood fire and the only other son is left to live on the family farm thus missing out on that bonus other boys received for starting their own lot. I had a lot of fun playing this round. It seemed to go so fast which I really enjoyed and generation 3 has started with more sims to come in the next round !

Random non-sims related comment - I read The Hunger Games in a day! I couldn't put it down it was SO good! XD I now only manage to put the second book down to work (I don't think my boss would find "this book is awesome and I cant put it down!" as a reasonable excuse for not showing up) and to sleep LoL I'd try and make it last longer but what the heck it's too awesome, may aswell enjoy it. I hear the movie is pretty damn awesome too and after seeing the amazing trailer for it I'm just going to have to go see it on my next day off XD

I know ! I have finished #2 and taking a little break before starting #3. We are hoping to see the movie soon. So far I have avoided all trailers and have only seen pics of the stars when they walked the red carpet for the openings.

I have to say the guy playing Peeta really isnt who I would have picked. It talks about Katniss laying her head on his shoulder but the only way that would happen is if she were on her knees LOL Gale on the other hand is excellent eye candy just like his older brother Chris !

I saw the movie XD omg so good to see everything in the book come to life; was really good. I thought the actors were very well picked for the characters they played (Woody Harrelson as Haymitch I would never in a million years have thought of but DAMN he did a great job - SO funny!), the only gripe isn't really legit =/ it's for Peeta, I see what you mean heightwise but for every other aspect I thought he was great! I won't say anything else until you've seen it too because I don't want to spoil it or give you any preconceived expectations. I've already had an argument with my boss about it LOL she hasn't read the book and we have very different opinions on what should or should not have happened DX so I'll stop babbling now! LoL let me know when you've seen it! I'd love to compare thoughts on it.

PS - Oh and Gale *__* those Hemsworth boys should be made illegal LoL

hahaha @ Hemsworth boys !! I agree. We are going tomorrow night to see the movie so I will be sure to let you know what I think. Talk soon !

Ok we saw it ! Lets hear your take on it :-D

taliahneth said...

LoL you want to hear MY take on it first? I saw it a week ago, and I've had some discussions about the later books since then XD I'll have to think about this now...

*30 seconds later* yeah maybe you could tell me what you thought, it might jog my memory a bit haha

*3rd thoughts later* >:D Slight differences between movies and book don't phase me, they're sort of a given =/ I thought in this case it was very true to the book; the biggest thing came at the end when my boss said after sleeping on it she hadn't thought much of Peeta and didn't like the ending, she wished Katniss had killed Peeta and gone home to Gale and I was like DX coz I like Peeta; thinking from her perspective, not having read the book, I felt there wasn't as much emotional connection, so I didn't get enough information on him to see how she could love both guys, especially when they showed that bread throwing scene as they are now, instead of as children, and it did seem pretty sad that you see her with Gale at the beginning and obviously they're friends (or more!) and then he's there all happy at the end, whereas in the book he's so NOT there for her at the end! But I'm biased, LoL. I wish there had been more "capitol" stuff, like with the stylists omg they're so funny in the book! And more of Cinna too :( the relationship aspect is severely lacking in the movie, but I liked just being able to see everything, like the flaming chariot and the modern city compared to the districts, and seeing the "hunger games" TV behind the scenes action was awesome; I just wanted more everything haha! Six hour movie later... XD But yeah, I'd love to hear your thoughts, and don't worry about telling me you hated it if that's the case! Most reactions I've got so far are very lacklustre =/ Nobody else I know that has seen the movie has read the book so it'd be nice to get that sort of perspective from another on it ^__^

hiya ! Happy Easter :-) Well first thoughts I was a little disappointed. The changes in story line really didnt sit well with me. ie changing how she not only got the pin but then to make it a secret object was strange, her immediately finding water at the start of the games when the book she is almost at deaths door ( ! ), her not having the hearing loss, not having the bread delivered from D11, the cornucopia was supposed to be shimmering gold and hot to the touch in the sun instead it was a dull silver, the Avox not even being explained ( she mentioned about cutting out tongues but since they have no contact with the capital there is no way for them to know that fact )just to name a few - I could really go on and on as you know since you read it as well.

I agree that the bread scene for someone not reading the book would be less than impressive. For one thing she was supposed to be really young and starving - neither of which she appeared to be. The "revolt" in District 11 was a great part of the book but was totally done differently and they didnt address the "tour" at the end of the games which really showcased the strained relationship between Kat and Peeta. Now I have to agree totally ! Peeta didnt annoy me at all. The filming of them together didnt show the difference in sizes at all. Oh without reading the book I dont think you would have gotten the tributes at all. They spent no time at all on their character development. I actually began to think I couldnt be sure what was going to happen because of the glaring changes to the storyline !

With it being a 200 odd page book I thought they could have stuck to the storyline much better. I mean Harry Potter for instance was a bigger book and that was very consistent. And since the author was actually part of the screenplay I am very baffled with the result.

Like you I enjoyed seeing the Capital and the citizens lol they were such characters, the flaming capes and the lavish food ! That being said my recommendation to people is to skip the movie totally and just read the book.

Belated Happy Easter... =/ I dropped my easter egg in a cup of just poured tea which startled me enough to knock the cup over sending boiling water down my stomach...LOL! Moving on XD

I feel so refreshed to read your view on it! What a difference a week makes though, I forgot half that stuff. I knew there was a lot that I noticed different, but I felt it was more "cut out" or "condensed" for the purpose of the movie. I learned recently that the books were written with the purpose of being made into a movie after therefore, as you say about the author being part of the screenplay, it should have been better than it was. I think I'm more lenient these days just to curb the dissatisfaction, because in reality every single detail of a book can't really be put into a movie unless the movie is going to be many hours long, LoL.

I'm still on the second book, up to where Katniss and Peeta are on their way to the capitol after being selected for the games again - which was kind of rushed right?! I'm a bit thrown by the leap from them in the train at home (where we don't get to see them reunited with their families) to them suddenly six months later all aloof with each other; where not much happens and then that lead in to the big "tour" that you barely see any of and then they're rushed off again...@__@ probably shouldn't have seen the movie before finishing the series haha. XD

Ouchie - tea burns :-o mmm mmm easter eggs. The bunny missed our house this year so send me some please! The worse thing is we went into the movie WANTING to love it ! So that was a shame. I dont think the rest of the books had much to do with the first movie so you should be ok. Wasnt that something them being picked again?! Dont cross Pres Snow is the lesson here lol I have yet to start #3 but that will probably be this week. I just asked hubby what he thought of it ( hes started reading it before me ) as we had heard its pretty bad lol he confirmed it.

I was the Easter Bunny this year ~^__^~ though I think I wasn't meant to be, what with yesterday's tea incident and then today the rest of them melted with the temperature going up 10 degrees higher than expected - oops - LoL. I had heard Book 3 was "awful" from one person, she sad she expected lots of action (and having just finished the 2nd I can see WHY) and there was none so she was very disappointed, the second person said "just don't expect it to be good and you'll be right" LoL! And now you're confirming that it's not great so I guess with all these low expectations we really should be right...? =/ Only one person has told me she liked the 3rd book, but we're all different! And now I'm too intrigued to put off reading it. I just got home from work, got a cuppa, and now I'm going to sit and see what happens XD dun dun DUNNN...
